Eight Sleep's sixth-generation Pod shrinks the Hub to fit under a bed frame, packs 9x more biometric sensors into the Cover, and adds single-sleeper Solo sizes starting at $1,999.
Most sleep tech upgrades are small software tweaks. Pod 6 is different. Eight Sleep rebuilt its smart sleep system from the ground up, and the changes go deep: new hardware, more data, faster cooling, and a lower way in.
Eight Sleep launched Pod 6 on September 23, 2026, calling it the company's biggest hardware release to date. It lands seven years after the first Pod hit the market in 2019. Since then, the brand has been trusted by pro athletes, founders, and health-focused sleepers, and it now points to more than 50 clinical studies behind the product.
Here's what changed, and why it matters.
The Hub is the engine of the Pod. It powers the heating and cooling that runs through the Cover on your mattress. In past versions, it was a box you had to find floor space for.
Pod 6 fixes that. Eight Sleep redesigned the Hub's electrical, mechanical, and software systems together, and the result is roughly half the size. It now fits under most standard bed frames. It's the biggest Hub redesign since the original Pod.
Smaller doesn't mean weaker. The new Hub uses redesigned thermoelectric coolers (TECs), better airflow, and quieter acoustics. Eight Sleep says it adjusts temperature 20% faster than any previous Pod and delivers up to 20% quicker relief from night sweats and chills.
That speed matters. Your body temperature naturally drops as you fall asleep and shifts through the night. The faster a system can respond, the closer it can track what your body actually needs.
Each side of the bed also runs fully independent. Whatever temperature your partner sets has zero effect on your side.
The Hub's new ribbed exterior was designed by industrial designer Joe Tan, so it can also sit out on or beside a nightstand if you don't hide it.
The Cover goes on top of any mattress and tracks heart rate, breathing rate, heart rate variability (HRV), snoring, and sleep stages from underneath you. No watch or ring required.
Pod 5 did this with two sensors. Pod 6 uses 18. That's 9x more.
More sensors means better spatial resolution. In plain terms, the system can now tell the difference between two people sleeping close together. It can also separate your signal from a dog or kid who climbs into bed. Eight Sleep says this delivers class-leading sleep stage classification, with heart rate, HRV, and breathing rate reaching near parity with medical-grade references.
All that data feeds Autopilot, Eight Sleep's AI engine. Autopilot learns your patterns and adjusts the bed automatically based on your sleep stage, room conditions, and how active your day was. The latest version, Autopilot 4.0, works like a personal sleep agent that predicts what you need through the night.
For athletes, HRV and resting heart rate are two of the most-watched recovery markers. Getting cleaner overnight data without wearing anything is a real upgrade for anyone training hard.
Until now, the Pod was built for the whole bed. Pod 6 introduces Solo sizes, designed for one sleeper.
Solo covers fit one side of a Queen, King, or California King, plus Twin XL and Twin mattresses. That opens the Pod up to people who sleep alone, live in smaller spaces, or only want the tech on their side of the bed.
Pod 6 is the most accessible Pod Eight Sleep has ever sold. The company credits engineering efficiencies for the lower entry price.
There's one catch to know upfront: every Pod 6 requires an Autopilot membership. Each membership covers two sleepers and comes in three tiers:
So the real first-year floor is about $2,198 for a Solo Pod on the annual Standard plan.
Pod 6 also works with Eight Sleep's existing add-ons, including the Blanket, Pillow Cover, and Base, sold separately.
Pod 6 caps the busiest year in Eight Sleep's history. The brand expanded into China, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Singapore, bringing its footprint to 37 countries. It says China is growing 12x faster than any previous country launch.
On the software side, the company rolled out Pregnancy Mode and Biological Age this year.
The next move may be the most important one. Eight Sleep is pursuing medical device status, seeking HTA clearance in Abu Dhabi for sleep apnea, along with U.S. FDA clearance. If that happens, the Pod shifts from wellness gadget toward clinical tool.
