Garmin Unveils Tacx Nēra, A Smart Trainer With Multidirectional Motion

October 27, 2026

Garmin's newest indoor smart trainer pairs realistic multidirectional movement with power and cadence accuracy within 1%, built for serious indoor training.

Garmin has added Tacx Nēra to its indoor smart trainer lineup, a connected trainer purpose-built for cyclists who train seriously indoors. The standout spec: power and cadence accuracy within 1%, paired with motion pods that move the bike forward, backward, and side-to-side for a ride feel closer to the road. Available now at $999.99, with a Zwift Ready option carrying the same price.

‍

Movement That Feels Real

Built-in motion pods give Nēra multidirectional movement — forward, backward and side-to-side — designed to make long indoor sessions feel less like a fixed point and more like an actual ride. It's the kind of detail that matters most on the efforts that go long: steady-state rides, structured intervals, anything where a static trainer starts to feel like a treadmill for legs.

‍

Precision Under Pressure

Power and cadence readings hold within 1% accuracy, the trainer simulates grades up to 20%, and it supports sprint efforts up to 2,200 watts — enough headroom for structured power training or a hard virtual breakaway without the numbers falling apart under load.

‍

Ride-Ready Out Of The Box

A preinstalled cassette means Nēra is ride-ready the moment it's unboxed. Cyclists can also choose the Zwift Ready version, which comes with a preinstalled Zwift Cog and Click for silent virtual shifting in Zwift or ROUVY — and new subscribers who go that route get a free Zwift membership offer.

‍

Built For Virtual Racing

Race mode delivers a near-instant response to attacks and breakaways in supported training apps, and built-in Wi-Fi keeps the connection steady during live sessions. Paired with Tacx Alpine, Nēra can simulate grades up to 25% and down to -10% for a more immersive climb-and-descend feel, with virtual steering available in compatible apps like Zwift and Tacx Training.

‍

Connected Training Ecosystem

The Tacx Training app unlocks a free workout library out of the box, plus real-world courses, challenges, and badges with a premium plan — free for the first 45 days with purchase. Riders can build Garmin Coach plans in Garmin Connect and complete them in Tacx Training, and pairing a compatible Edge cycling computer or smartwatch brings indoor and outdoor rides, along with off-the-bike recovery data, into one connected view of training load.

The Numbers

Tacx Nēra is available now for $999.99, in both the standard version and the Zwift Ready version with Cog and Click. "This trainer delivers an unbeatable combination of performance features at an incomparable value," said Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing.
