huupe's first in-ground hoop pairs a regulation outdoor system with AI shot tracking, arena-style LED lighting, and pro-level analytics, at a price close to other premium driveway hoops.
For most players, a backyard hoop has never told them anything. You shoot, you guess, you move on. huupe wants to change that. The smart hoop company launched huupe ARENA this summer. It is a premium in-ground basketball system that tracks every shot the way pro training facilities do.
It comes in two sizes: the 60" model at $2,995 and the 72" model at $3,495, sold only at huupe.com. That puts it in the same price range as premium outdoor brands like Gorilla and ProDunk. The difference is that ARENA ships with smart technology already built in.
The core of the system is huupe's AI Smart Sensor, a small weatherproof hub mounted above the backboard. It logs makes, misses, shot distance, shooting position, and long-term trends. It also stores session data on the unit, so nothing is lost if your phone isn't courtside.
Players see the results in the huupe app, live or after they play:
The most visible feature is the LED perimeter lighting built into the backboard. It flashes green on a make and red on a miss, giving players instant feedback on every shot. Lighting modes can be customized.
On the hardware side, ARENA includes a professional-grade breakaway rim, support arms, pole padding, and adjustable height. It is rated IP65 weatherproof and runs on standard 120V power.
CEO and co-founder Paul Anton says the goal is to make professional-level training and analytics available to everyday players. ARENA is the latest step in huupe's buildout since its founding in 2019. That buildout includes a full-size smart hoop with a built-in screen in 2023, the indoor huupe mini in 2024, and huupe arcade in 2025, which was backed by NBA legends Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter. The company reports more than 40,000 units sold.
Shot-tracking data used to be limited to college programs and NBA practice gyms. ARENA's bet is that serious players will pay premium-hoop prices to get it at home, and that once they've seen their shot chart, they won't want a hoop without one.
huupe also updated its indoor lineup with the huupe mini 2, the second generation of its smart mini hoop console. It now sells for $499, down from a $799 list price, and is shipping now through huupe's official store.
The upgrades are mostly under the hood:
The backboard still works as a full smart TV, so players can stream live sports, shows, or music while they shoot. Between ARENA outside and the mini 2 inside, huupe now has a smart hoop for nearly every part of the home.
