Nix Biosensors Closes $10M Series A To Make Hydration Data As Common As Your Sleep Score

October 12, 2026

Nix Biosensors is building the algorithm layer behind real-time hydration tracking — and aiming to put it inside every health platform you already use.

The Raise

Nix Biosensors closed a $10M Series A, pushing total funding to $17M. The investor list reads like a cross-section of sports and health money: Shorewind Capital, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Oregon Sports Angels, and White Road Investments (the Clif Bar founders’ family office), alongside 23andMe founder Anne Wojcicki, Warner Music Group’s Len Blavatnik, and ownership groups tied to the Celtics, Blues, Orioles, Rangers, and Boston Legacy FC.

Nix is led by founder Meridith Cass — Harvard Business School, former VC, and an endurance athlete herself. Her advisory bench backs that up: Dr. Bob Murray, co-founder of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute; Matt Frakes, Director of Performance Nutrition for the NY Giants; and Tatyana McFadden, 7x Paralympian and 24-time World Major winner.

The Tech

Nix’s biosensor reads sweat in real time — fluid and electrolyte loss, tracked live, across athletes, military units, and laborers who can’t afford to find out they’re dehydrated after the fact. Years of field data across pro and collegiate sports, military, and labor environments have built what the company calls the most comprehensive real-world hydration dataset in existence.

Where This Funding Is Actually Going

The headline move: Nix Health, a licensable hydration algorithm that doesn’t require anyone to wear a sensor at all. Instead of selling another wearable, Nix wants to embed its science directly into the fitness and health platforms people already have open on their phone. Same hydration intelligence, zero new hardware.

The company is also expanding what it can read off sweat beyond hydration — lactate, cortisol, glucose, Vitamin D, testosterone, and estrogen are all on the roadmap, treating sweat as an underused data stream for full-body health, not just a performance number.

“Hydration is a health metric on par with sleep in terms of its far-reaching impact on long-term health,” says CEO Meridith Cass. “Unlike sleep, hydration is immediately actionable.”

‍
Why It Matters

Sleep tracking went from niche to default on every wearable in under a decade. Nix is betting hydration follows the same curve — and that whoever owns the deepest real-world dataset owns the category once it goes mainstream. With sports ownership money and elite performance advisors already in the room, Nix isn’t starting that bet from zero.
