Glidewell and ORB Innovations have launched Comfort3D, a custom dental nightguard with built-in sensors that tracks nighttime grinding, clenching, and wear time.
Glidewell, America's largest dental laboratory, has launched Comfort3D powered by ORB Innovations™, a custom-fit nightguard built with integrated sensing technology. Available through dental practices, the appliance pairs with the free ORB Sleep App to track nighttime grinding, clenching, and wear time, with nightly summaries and longer-term trend data.
The sensing tech comes from ORB Innovations, the team behind the ORB Sport™ Smart Mouthguard, a custom-fit mouthguard already worn by contact and combat sport athletes in MMA, boxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, plus student athletes. ORB Sport tracks 20+ metrics — heart rate, movement, and impacts — through an app that's been covered by Sports Illustrated, Yahoo Sports, CBS Sports, and TechRadar. Layered onto Glidewell's existing Comfort3D™ appliance, that same sensing technology closes a gap between traditional nightguards, which capture zero data, and today's sleep wearables, which track the body but miss what's happening in the jaw.
Bruxism — teeth grinding and jaw clenching — is tightly linked to stress and training load, and shows up most on nights after hard sessions or high-pressure stretches. Left untracked, it's a recovery signal athletes and high performers have had no way to measure. Comfort3D turns a routine custom nightguard into a recurring data point, the same way a sleep score or HRV reading already informs a training week.
